Brewing beer, curing meat, or making cheese?

Go, Chicken, Go - Kansas City

stellamystar Apr 21, 2008 07:16 PM

Well? Should I go Chicken go?
I love fried chicken - cold, hot, whatever I love it.
I also love a local fried chicken "fast food" place - so, I came across this one! I work near the troost location.

Anyone been? Are the "sides" good - esp. gravy - I'm a gravy freak, too. Please weigh in - is it worth the calories?

Is any one GCG better than the others? I'm doing some planning for an upcoming trip, and am putting it on my list.

I have been to 3 locations and all seem to be the same. Troost can be busy, though. Unfortunately, it's the only one close to the rest of the city proper.

Thanks! I'll put the Troost one on my map, but maybe I'll add the 7th St. one, too, just in case I happen to be in the area (I think I have to go to the Kansas side for something, anyway!).

Their gizzards are the best and I'll drink the G sauce right out of the bottle!

Mrs. Deke, I thought the gizzards were a "guy" thing:-)

After years doing the gizzards with hot sauce, I tried the fried chicken for the first time in October. Really quite good.

chileheadmike , There is no bullet proof glass at the Olathe location.

I tried to attach a photo, but it doesn't seem to have worked.

Here is what a half order of gizzards looks like. http://www.kansastravel.org/olathe/08...

The Olathe branch is what I call psueudo Go Chicken Go. The real deal on on 7th Street in the 'Dotte.

The Olathe branch is good for a quick gizzard fix, however.

The only thing keeping Go Chicken Go from being PERFECT is that they don't deliver! I'm glad to find out about all these other locations. The one I live at is on Troost :-)

If you want fast food fried chicken, and not sick of chains go for it, it is worth it.

They helped out with a fundraiser we threw a few weeks back and supplied gizzards...most of the "city folk" had not tried them before, had no idea what they were and have become hooked. They were coming to us asking, "now what were these things" and "so when I go to GCG I just order gizzards"...I guess they were a hit!

ha, that's funny! i will not try them so that i do not get hooked.

i can pretty much agree with the above.. get an order of gizzards and liver and get the hot sauce that goes with it.

                  Love the bullet proof glass.

Excellent fried chicken. But get yourself a full order of gizzards and a bypass.

I would go with the livers, rather than the gizzards.
The yellow gravy looks gross, but it is addictive. I love Go Chicken Go.
