Pamplemousse in RWC: French Macaroons -- Awesome, Awesome, Awesome
Just got a dozen macaroons from Pamplemousse in RWC. These are unbelievably awesome. The chili chocolate is unusual - sweet crispy gooey chocolately goodness with a hot-chili finish. At $2/each -- they're not cheap -- but they are very, very tasty.

Had a chestnut one & anise one that were quite good! But only had once,
so can't speak for the aftertaste some report. Will have to try again.
However, I could swear that the people there boast of only using natural
ingredients/flavors not additives. But again...need to look into.
Otherwise, they definitely have some beautiful, beautiful mousse cake options here, and a really nice selection of single serving ones! (fun for parties)›1 Reply -
I had a great lunch at Pamplemousse today, capped off by two of those macarons. I got a serrano ham, goat cheese and fig jam sandwich that was fantastic, with a great little salad with their housemade herb dressing, and then a chocolate chili and a caramel macaron for afternoon snacks. They were both good with a nicely chewy exterior -- I didn't love the interior as much, and both of them had a slightly weird (maybe soapy?) aftertaste, though. The chocolate/chili combo worked great for the macaron, and was pretty spicy, I'd definitely go back for more of those (and to try others, aftertaste notwithstanding). Thanks for the recommendations for this place!

re: JasmineG
We bought a dozen assorted macarons, and most of them had a strange chemically aftertaste. Except for two flavors, we three generations (daughter, husband, me,grandparents) hated them. They should use more natural flavors, not the intense artificial ones. (I've made many at home: rose, mint, hazelnut, chocolate - it's easy to do.) Pamplemousse gets an A for presentation and service, though.
