Cape Cod in April

Hi there - my girlfriend and I are in Cape Cod for a long weekend next week.

Was hoping for some recommendations of places that are open in April? Including any good (fish) markets.

We are staying in Brewster but will be driving about a fair bit

We would like one special/upscale/romantic dinner and otherwise enjoy anything and everything with good ingredients and an authentic or unique atmnosphere no matter how casual.

Thanks!

Once again, I'll recommend Buca's in Harwich, right on Route 28. (www.bucasroadhouse.com). Good Tuscan food, great wine list. Open all year. Am I the only one who's ever eaten there?

I make it to Buca's Tuscan Roadhouse about 3-4 times a year. As you say, they are year round --- and I appreciate that. It can be challenging to get some imaginative chow in the dead of winter. And since the OP asked about a romantic choice, Buca does make the list.

However, I find that Buca's tend toward the reflexive Yankee error of confusing quantity with quality. On the ambitious plates, the sauces sometimes just lose their way. I'm thinking of one unfortunate lamb chop who deserved better than to be smothered in gravy. I guess I just don't get excited by the food; I love the fact that I can get a honest cocktail and a good conversation on a snowy evening.

Hadn't noticed that. The saucing on the dishes I've had seemed fine. I'll just have to go again and check.

I was on the Cape last weekend and had a good meal at the Roadhouse Grill in Hyannis. the Cioppino was quite good and the appetizers were good as well. The place isn't fancy, but good service and reasonably priced

Brewster Fish House is right in that area and is yummy!

If you are in Brewster, would you be up to a ride to P Town to The Mews or Red Inn? If not, Abba in Orleans is very nice. Mom loves Brewster Fish House for lunch or dinner.

Fanizzi's by the Sea is a great place with front room views to die for. I concur with the mews and see if Front St is open. Edwedge (sp?) is a great place as well......all in P-Town
