Tacos El Gordo, status of Al Pastor spit?

Anyone been to Tacos El Gordo recently? Last time I went, I asked for al pastor, but noticed the spit was empty. They still served me my tacos however, which sadly weren't as tasty as before. I hoped it was an off day, but a report on Yelp noted the meat wasn't on the spit today either. I'm wondering if the health inspector had a say in this?

    2. I distinctly remember seeing the spit loaded up last month.

I should say that the suadero taco was delicious- like beef carnitas; while the buche was also good, though I ended up not being wild about the texture. A little too spongy for me.

      2. The spit was up in the truck as of last Wednesday. My tacos weren't great either as the pastor was dry and overcooked.

        1. No need to panic, I stopped by tonight to check myself. Pastor meat was on the spit but wasn't carved off to order. Still, the pastor was tasty and more than likely cooked on the spit from the bits of charring on the meat.

I also tried suadero, per twocents reccomendation. Agreed it was like beef carnitas, cooked in the oil in the huge round tub by the window. This was my first time trying suadero but won't be my last. It was nice and beefy, and a tad chewy, but in a good meaty way.
