Buying New Orleans

RedTop Apr 19, 2008 02:17 PM

We've been in love with the Crescent City since we first visited before Katrina. And we donated to relief efforts there for more than a year after the hurricane.

I'm a bit embarrased that our fervor to back up the city has waned lately. But we still "buy New Orleans": a portion of ZATs Red Beans and Rice is steeping on the stove right now. In our pantry or 'frig, are bottles of Crystal, Louisiana Hot Sauce, Ashanti Louisiana Hot Sauce and K-Pauls Meat Magic and K-Pauls Blackened Steak Magic. I'm hoping our dismal effort to help NOLA is making a small impact.

Anyone else shopping with an intent to help the city?

Every single day. I shop at locally owned markets & dine in locally owned restaurants.
I'm a small biz owner, so yes, it counts!

Please, please remember us! We are still struggling to get back on our feet.
Our cost of living has gone up so much, but unfortunately, not our incomes.

There are lots of websites that can point you to New Orleans merchants.

    Thanks for your support!

we remember you Isabella - was there for a long weekend less than a year ago and I have to say the hospitality was multiplied (if that's possible).

Well I'm at school in New Orleans and I don't know how much help it is to buy Louisiana products but I sure do love Abita beer and bring it back up to NYC on my car trips back home!
