Willo Restaurant in Nevada City?

pkegley Apr 18, 2008 08:10 PM

A co-worker just told me the place is great. It's a bit of a drive for me, so was wondering if it's worth it. I know it's a plain-jane place, but I care about the food.

Also - any thoughts on Bootleggers in Auburn. Saw one review here that wasn't complimentary; looking for more opinions.

Steak and ptotatoes roadhouse. A very simiar place is in Penn Valley except there the grill is in the dining room.

The food is great here if that is your type of thing, Charbroiled steaks, baked potato, simple salad.

There is a recent thread about NC here.

We went to the Tack Room Restaurant & Bar in Penn Valley a few months ago. They have really good cocktails, but I tried a glass of wine with my steak, which I will never do again there. My wife had a great Blood Mary, but she ordered fish instead of steak or ribs, which she will never do again there. I thought the Tack Room décor, which features John Wayne and western art, was slightly fancier than the Willo that featured Elvis clocks for sale.

The Tack Room! It was right on the tip of my tongue. The Tackroom is more of the farmers/ranchers type place kind of. The Willo kind of the lumberjack.truckdriver place.

In neither would I order fish however.

I ate at the Willo once. It's kinda of a locals, roadhouse type place with cocktails, beer, shuffleboard, steaks, etc. If you ever ate at Doc Willie's, you get the idea.

You might want to post this on the California board.
