Reasonably priced Italian food w/a teenager

Two Toronto Chowhounds bringing our daughter to New York in celebration of her graduation from high school. We have dinner reservations at The Harrison one night, but are looking for suggestions for good, reasonably priced Italian for another night. Tried to get into Lupa, but no luck. We are staying around 35th and 5th, but are willing to travel for good food. Ideally would like to make reservations in advance (that way nobody gets crabby waiting in line for a table). Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!

  1. Did you try Lupa reservations for lunch? If your heart is really set on Lupa (and I do like it), you might want to try and get a table by calling again when you get to NYC - I usually get a table for lunch on Saturday by calling that morning.

Thanks for the suggestion, but we are really looking for somewhere else for dinner. Any ideas?

I'll work on it ;-). FWIW though, they also do put aside a number of tables for walk ins for dinner as well, though I've not done that. We don't go out for Italian much - I read nice things generally about Vice Versa and Crispo (though mixed about the latter). Hopefully other posters will chime in. You could also look into Po.

    2. Thanks for the help. Did some research and Vice Versa looked good. Sent an e-mail to see if we could get resrevations. The other one we're looking at is Po, which seems to get good reviews on this Board. Any recent experiences?

      1. I learned of this restaurant from this forum but I haven't been there yet. It has gotten some positive reviews here.

It's on 47th Street between Broadway and 8th. I'm looking forward to it!

        1. After reading the reviews, decided to book at Vice Versa. Any recommendations re: special/fabulous/not to be missed dishes would be great.
