Tempe Pre-Theatre Dinner

lawyerbriefs Apr 18, 2008 10:35 AM

I need a recommendation for dinner in Tempe before my wife and I see My Fair Lady on Saturday, June 21. I expect that we'll be staying at the Tempe Mission Palms, and we'd like to be able to walk to dinner, walk to Gammage and walk back. We like Italian and, but for Asian, almost anything else. Price is not an issue.

This link that bortukan just used in a previous thread captures most of the walkable options:

For a pre-theater dinner my choice would be either Tricks or Caffe Boa.

Caffe Boa is great and usually less crowded than the other places along Mill Ave . Plus, it is right across the street from the side entrance to Mission Palms.

House of Tricks is a couple of blocks from the Tempe Mission Palms..
      Great place and great food!

Thanks to Msample for recommending Caffe Boa, and to the rest for your suggestions. We went to Caffe Boa before seeing My Fair Lady, which was great. I started with the Anastasia, a strawberry and basil vodka martini. I'm not a fruit drink guy, but this was a very tasty drink. Very nice!

My wife has the filet mignon. She's not a beef eater, but wanted protein. She loved the dish. Very nice and very flavorful (which is not always the case with a filet). I had the antipasto plate as an entree. Excellent. Some unusual choices--caperberries and fresh mozzarella--made it lighter. Perfect for the brutal heat we faced when we walked out.

Service was fine, not too hurried! All in all, a very fine pre-theatre dinner.
