Any updates to this thread? I'm looking for lunch that's a notch above fast food, for a non-adventurous eater (who isn't me!). Save me from Marie Callendar's!

re: cant talk...eating
Well, if you like chicken, Juan Pollo, just off Azusa Ave & Covina Ave in Covina is great Mexican chicken. It is counter serve, so fast food, but I'd eat there over Marie's most days of the week.
The is also The Hat, also fast food, but I love their pastrami sandwiches and onion rings.
I've only done breakfast at Flappy Jack's Pancake House Restaurant, but they have been good.
And if you like Italian, Tulipano Italian Restaurant does a nice job.

I've never been there but a branch of Dino's Chicken that people on this board rave about is in Azusa. Here's a review from one of the members:

I work in Azusa so I eat there often for lunch. The best is Canyon City BBQ, great food, open wed-sun, Rancho Los Maguyese is good too, especially their soups and margartias, I prefer La Tolteca for chips and chile rellenos, Dino's chicken gets great marks here on the chow boards, but I thinks its just ok. Il Forno is a newr italian place in the downtown, its hit and miss. BTW Balzac cafe closed a least 2 years ago, there is a nasty shushi place that took it location, Arigato.

Check out El Gallo Pinto for something different. They are a very good Nicaraguan restaurant with a few Mexican dishes on their menu:

For Mexican: Rancho Los Maguelles - family run, friendly place - decent food. Sometimes hit or miss - but good margaritas and standard Mexican fare. The best I've found in Azusa.
For B'fast: I like Flappy's (great b'fast crepes (weekdays only) and eggs benedict) - they also have lunch but I always get b'fast.
For Pizza: as you've found - head to Petrillo's (get the speciality pizza - yum!)
All are in your price range...

You can try Citrus Grill in nearby Covina. Nothing fancy, but the food is decent and fits your price range.
Another possibility is Off Citrus, also in Covina. Good sweet potatoe fries and they often have some nice fresh fish selections.

re: ipsedixit
I'm pretty sure Citrus Grill is closed. There is a Mexican Restaurant in its former location, and the number listed is no longer in service. I don't know the name of the restaurant that took its place, but I don't recommend it. It wasn't that great when I tried it a couple of months ago.
