Braintree/Canton Visit

I will have a quick trip with stops in Braintree and Canton. Wide open to suggestions particularly for those places that "you have to try in the area". All cuisines and price points are welcome. Thanks!

I second the Sintra recommendation. I've been at least 6 times and absolutely love it every time! Great service, nice atmosphere and the food is simply outstanding. Don't miss the duck or the cannelloni stuffed with braised short ribs!

Little off topic guys Im sorry- I used to go to a little Italian place somewhere near Stoughton/Canton- it was DELICIOUS. I never knew the name of it though and now Id love to find it again. I remember that the bar had a fireplace in it and was perfect for a pre/post dinner drink. I know Im not giving a lot to go on here but I figured it was worth a shot!

Was it Rosario's in Canton Center?

Nope- just checked out their menu- sadly that isnt it. I never drove there so my sense of direction is all off on it- but I know that it seemed to be in the middle of no where, dirt parking lot, believe it was on the corner of two streets. This could be a complete needle in a hay stack-haha. I just remember it being REALLY good Italian...

aItalian with a bar with a fireplace sounds like La Scala in Randolph. However, great food sounds nothing like La Scala.

Genesio's? It's also in Randolph. Good Italian style comfort food, and I think they have a fireplace.

Hmm that appears to have opened in 2007- and I know this was circa 2005- but thanks for the suggestion!!!!

It wasn't Spoleto on Route 138 in North Easton, was it? (a short distance south of the Stoughton line). I really loved that place (went there twice), but they closed in 2006, give or take.

hmm-seems like that one is in a plaza? Definitely wasnt in a plaza- it was a free standing building, and when you entered, the bar room (with fireplace) was straight ahead, and the dining room was to your right. Haha- this is such a ridiculous thing Im trying to find- thanks for humoring me!!!!

I would second Mai Place for great sushi, and good Chinese. The Globe did a review a while back and gave them a very favorable review as well.

Bon Caldo is reasonable Italian but is in Norwood. Also check out Siam Lotus in Norwood for great Thai. Both of these restaurants are on Route 1, southbound side.

Just a hop, skip and 5 mile jump from Canton is Lewis' Bar and Grill in downtown Norwood. While they have a restaurant and full menu, you'll simply want to pop in to the bar side and enjoy a Lewis burger (garnished with your traditional lettuce, tomato and onion as well as your not so traditional dollop of egg salad). Order an OVC (orange, vodka and collins) to accompany the burger, and then sit back and vintage murals!

Cobbs Corner, Stoughton/Canton line, very good Chinese at Chinatown Restaurant.

El Sarape in Weymouth Landing (actually part of East Braintree) has some of the best Mexican food I've tried in the Boston area.

Canton doesn't have a whole lot of places, but next door in Sharon is Coriander, which is supposed to be very good.

I have to agree that Canton doesn't have much to offer, but Coriander in Sharon is very good with fair prices

I agree about El Serape. If you've got a hankering for bar pizza and beer (and nothing else!), check out the Lynnwood in Randolph - great stuff!
