Ocean City/Fenwick Recommendations
My family is going to Fenwick Island for vacation this summer. We would like to plan one nice dinner out. We are looking for the following:
1) Great food (of course)- Fine dining but on the more casual side than fancy side
2) Kids welcome
3) Accomodate big groups (there will be ~20 of us)
4) Serves great clams casino (my grandmother's favorite)
We are willing to travel anywhere in the OC/Fenwick area, but bonus for closer to Fenwick. One place I was looking at online is Shark's Cove http://www.sharks-cove.com/. Has anyone been here? Any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much
Galaxy 66 in Ocean City is pretty, they don't have clams casino, but they do have clams which are pretty tasty. Liquid Assets is a lot of fun and Marlin Moon Grill is worth a look too.
Sharks Cove closed last year. It was taken over by a local seafood "chain", it's now called Catch54 http://www.catch54.com
Galaxy is probably the best OC has to offer, but it's not what I'd consider family friendly.
Sunset Grille (http://www.ocsunsetgrille.com) in West Ocean City is a good option.
Mackey (http://www.mackys.com) is casual but the food is good.
The Hobbit is currently closed - the building was torn down for condos, but they are supposed to reopen in the lobby this summer. Keep your eye open for that, it used to be very good.
You might also consider The Bonfire or Embers ( http://www.embers.com) as they have large all-you-can-eat seafood buffets, but without the boardwalk tackiness.
I would highly suggest Nantuckets in Fenwick - great food - yes they have clams casino! - Definitely would need reservations especially in the summer - Never been disappointed
You might want to try Fager's Island in Ocean City, not far from Fenwick. I believe it does serve clams casino, because it has a very traditional menu. Also, the place is enormous, with every kind of seating imaginable, so a group of 20 won't be a problem.
Now, I don't like Fager's Island myself. My favorite restaurant in the area is Liquid Assets on 94th St. in OC, and The Pig and Fish in Rehoboth. But all my aunts and uncles in their 60's LOVE Fager's Island and swear it's their favorite restaurant ever, so I think they're very popular for that set. Also, the setting can't be beat, it's located on the bay and has a huge deck where you can watch the sunset. Make reservations early, they are always full in the summer.
Jules Restaurant is pretty high up, at 118th Street, and is without question my favorite restaurant in Ocean City. I have never had a bad meal there, and have had at least two that were exceptional.
Although they are somewhat fine dining, I've been there in jeans and I've been seated next to kids, so they must be pretty flexible. The space isn't huge, but if you called in advance, I'm sure they'd be willing to work with you for a party of 20. Really, really good food.

You might try Harpoon Hannah's in Fenwick Island, about a mile west of Ocean Highway on Rte 54. Hugh, loud, family-friendly, and I'm quite sure they have clams casino. Go there early (4:30 +/- pm) to avoid avoid the rush. It isn't fine dining, it's full of sunburned families, but the wait staff is young and energeticand the food is pretty good for such tremendous kitchen rush. I'm sure some Hounders may cringe at my suggestion, but I must say that I had the best stuffed rockfish (with crabmeat) I ever tasted there a few years ago - fantastic! Fresh, tasty, perfectly-sized.
