Breakfast or Brunch West. Burbs

  • 4

We need a casual brunch or breakfast place. I will be in Bensenville, the other person in N. Riverside. We've done everything in Oak Park/Forest Park. Looking for someplace new, maybe further west - Elmhurst, Oakbrook, Lagrange Park, or ???

  1. I had an amazing brunch at Honey in downtown Glen Ellyn last Sunday. I had Caprese Eggs Benedict. The hollandaise sauce was boosted with plenty of fresh basil, and the poached eggs rested on tomato slices, fresh mozza, and toasted sun-dried tomato foccacia. So, so, so good! OH - and really great coffee - Metropolis was the brand, I believe. I would just call it delicious. My husband had a tofu scramble, which was pretty tasty too, sauteed with tomatoes and onions, but mine was better, obviously! He had a mimosa with fresh squeezed OJ to wash down his breakfast. We are looking forward to going back again soon.

    1. Just wanted to report that we went to the newly opened 621 Diner in Lombard. It's just west of 83 and just east of the plaza with the Babies R Us. They have been open about 6 weeks. Good coffee. I had vanilla brioche french toast. My friend had an omelet. Both were very good. Friendly waitress. Owner stopped by asking for honest feedback, was very friendly. We will definitely go there again.

They have a website at www.621diner.com

        Thanks for the report!

      2. The Egg Harbor Cafe has excellent breakfasts and serves lunch/brunch items as well. There are a variety of Chicagoland locations.
