We have to go to Orillia this Saturday and would probably want to do lunch in or around town.

Is there anything that's not to be missed??

Try the all day breakfast at Picnic on Memorial Ave.

You could ask others if the Ossawippi Express dining car is worth a try. Saw it on RM a while back, it looked like the menu and decor were really stale, but the crew seemed to whip it right into shape! It's in a nice setting, boardwalk and all..

I just looked at the website for Ossawippi Express and it looks interesting! I think I'd check this place out too if only for the novelty -

If you go, look for the signage in the restaurant and be sure to do e x a c t l y what it tells you to. Otherwise, you will meet a extremely cranky owner. We split after he spewed and found the Mixx Bistro. A big win for us.

I haven't been there but if I were going to Orillia, I'd check out Mixx Bistro in the old Champlain Hotel on Front Street. They also have an art gallery that exhibits local artists' works.

I'll second that recommendation! Had a great dinner there in February and can't wait to go back.

I lived there a while ago. Sadly, I am afraid most choices are chain restaurants. However, Duckworth's fish and chips opened up recently (8 mons?), it is midway between the casino and the main village. In complete honestly you are not going to get much better than that. If that doesn't sound like your cup of tea, I would go to the casino to eat.
