Where can I find potted herbs?

I am trying to find potted herbs such as basil, rosemary, thyme, sage, etc. Does anyone know where I can find them?

Many Thanks.

  1. Local nurseries from Mordigan's on 3rd and Fairfax to any Osh hardware, Home depot garden dept. or Armstrong Garden Center. Even Whole Foods. You didn't specify your geographic area but many of these are chains all over the Southland. If you want something more esoteric than the ones you mentioned (shiso, epazote, Thai basil etc.) then go to the big farmer's market. I bought a gang of exotic potted herbs at the Hollywood Farmer's market this Sunday. There's also sellers at the Santa Monica Farmer's market on Wed and I think Saturday. Happy planting!

    1. You didn't state your location but any farmer's markets will have them.

Yeah, and cheap, too, for like a buck or two per small pot.

Yes. The Saturday Pasadena HS FM has them all. So does the Alhambra, Sunday FM.

      2. If you go to an OSH Hardware or HomeDepot or similar garden departments, you should be able to get small 4" potted herbs for about $3 per. At Armstrong's they might be slightly better for about a buck more. It may be worth checking out your local 99-Cent store -- they often feature plants and at this time of year may have some herbs, for you guessed it, 99 cents. The best value of all may be at Trader Joe's -- come later in the spring or summer, they sell pretty huge basil plants for $2.99, with several ounces already grown and if you prune correctly a yield several times more.

        1. If you are in the Encino area I just saw some at the Tapia farm on Hayvenhurst and Burbank. Small pint sized pots for $2.50 IIRC

          1. Oh, *those* potted herbs...LOL!
