good views around lake travis & in austin?

sorry for the touristy question hounds, but what's a good place for a drink and the view around lake travis? of course i'm not expecting any great food, but that would be bonus. maybe the OASIS? TRAVIS? where would you suggest to watch the sunset or maybe brunch?

closer to town, i was thinking of stopping in the HULA HUT for this purpose too and maybe if anything try some fish tacos.

lastly & speaking of views, is there a hotel bar or roofdeck or anything in downtown austin that's up high enough where i can go to get a good look around w/ my camera?

thoughts? thx all.

Oops. My bad. Thank you for the correction.

    2. I've taken out-of-town guests to Oasis a couple times and they've always been impressed with the views. The food is so-so, but you're not going for the food.

The food has vastly improved after the fire. Everybody I've gone with said the food experience has been good after the reconstruction.

      2. Since you're not looking for "good" food, here are a couple of other options:

Iguana Grill, Carlos 'n' Charlie's, and I think you mentioned the Travis at Lakeway Inn.

          thx for the recs everyone.

we ended up going to THE IGUANA (late afternoon during the week). it was perfect. i'm not a service oriented person but i have to say that besides the great views the best part was the nice young waiter guy who held down the whole fort with style. the margs were best of the visit, very refreshing. the menu looked ok, but we just stuck with chips & salsa as it appears most people do.

note be careful driving in & out of there, the traffic is "suburban hectic."

next visit will likely be HULA HUT.

still looking for a downtown tall building bar/restaurant/observation view. any suggestions?

Downtown....hmmm. The only thing that comes to mind is Speakeasy, but that is only about four floors up.

Headliners is on top of a building, but that's a private club.

Maybe just pretend like you want to buy one of those new condos and go to the rooftop!

the view from County Line on the Hill's patio is pretty at sunset. so is the porch behind the Four Seasons (or their bar if you want A/C). Also the deck at ZTejas Arboretum is pretty (and the food is pretty good and not too outrageously priced for such a nice facility).
