Good restaurant in Boston for a graduation family dinner
I'm graduating high school in early June (THANK GOD) and I was going to have a party, but my family is really small so it would be pointless. Instead, I am thinking about going to dinner in Boston with 5 of my family members. I want to go to a mid-fancy restaurant, that serves very good Italian, American, or really any other kind of food. I'm not picky. If anyone has any suggestions I would gladly appreciate them. Thanks a lot!

Try Vinny's on Boylston St. across from the Prudential. It's fun and they serve family style. The food is decent and the prices moderate. Here's the menu and location info http://www.vinnytsofboston.com/

I don't think most people would think of Vinny T's as a first choice for a semi fancy celebratory dinner. Besides La Morra and Rocca recommended above (Prezza is pushing it for prices), you could go to Teatro and Via Matta for Italian, Eastern Standard, Lineage, Union, Rendezvous and Green St. (the latter two in Camb) for American.

You must be graduating at the top of your class to be planning so far ahead. I think the best place for what you want is Rocca's in the So. End. The food is some of the best in Boston. The menu is Umbrian Italian, the entrees are extremely reasonable and even though you might not be old enough to drink, there is a wonderful wine menu. There is free parking and if the weather is great, you might consider having your party outdoors. I've been to La Morra, and it is also a great place, but for someone your age, I think Rocca is just what you are looking for. It's impossible to park in the No. End anyway! Congratulations on your upcomming graduation.

don't know your price range or location, but you might like La Morra, in Brookline, on Route 9 near Brookline Village. Make reservations, prix fixe dinner around 35.00 a person, and the food is wonderful. If you prefer cheaper and simpler, Carlos Cucina on brighton near harvard is just fine but while it is comfortable, it isn't fancy and it can be a bit cramped. Lots of choices if you want to go to the North End: Prezza and Artu come to mind and you can do a board search for threads on good North End italian choices. Might help if you specify location, whether you want to drive or train (parking is of course a horror in boston unless you are valeting), and what kind of food your family likes.
