You can try this place called Karapagh Market. There's one on Santa Monica Blvd close to the 101 Freeway and there's one in Van Nuys on Victory Blvd. close to Woodman Ave. You can order from there. I know the lady that makes them and they are good!!

My favorite dolmas come from Elena's Greek Armenian in Glendale. They would not be as inexpensive as supermarkets, of course. But they are really delicious. It's also a great little place for lunch or dinner, although no wine is served.

I want to ask whether we're talking about the Armenian ones with ground lamb or the Greek kind with rice and mint. The first time someone served me one of the latter I was expecting the former, and I almost spit it out simply because the flavor was so unexpected. I have to say I've had very few of the meat ones that either I or my ex-wife didn't make - it's not a lot of work, but tedious, and a source of good ones ready-made would be nice to know about.
