Great lunch spot around Hartford?

The daughters are taking Mom out for a nice lunch a few days before Mother's Day. She loves all kinds of food. Looking for something Hartford/Glastonbury/Manchester vicinities...W. Hartford also possible. I haven't lived there for years, so other than Shady Glen I'm at a loss! Something nice rather than casual. Any ideas?

on20 is great. Glas is Glastonbury is pretty excellent too for lunch. They do great gourmet sandwiches.

I like the Pond House, but it can be difficult to get reservations. Grant's or Bricco in West Hartford might be suitable. You can view info. for both here:

You might also consider Max's Oyster Bar in West Hartford, Max Amore, or Max Fish in Glastonbury, all run by the Max Group, or their flagship restaurant in Hartford, Max Downtown. I recently took a friend to a birthday lunch there, and the food and service were great. You can check them all out here:

I suggest On20 on the 20th floor of the Polytechnic Club in downtown Hartford, 1 State Street. They have a very nice menu including a $35 prix fixe lunch offering. Great views and excellent service.

How about the Pond House in Elizabeth Park in West Hartford? Here's their link:

it's a cross between fancy (but not too fancy) and casual.

I highly recommend in East Hartford a place called Al Fresco's its on Burnside Ave almost into Manchester. Just before Marco Polo on the right Will include there menu and web site. http://www.alfrescosrestaurant.com/in... They serve basically Italian, but the food is always good.

thanks, Earle. While this certainly looks like a nice family sort of spot, I think we were looking for something a little nicer and more "special occasion" feeling.....any others????
