Places to eat near Bronx Zoo?

Heading up there this weekend. Anything good to eat in the area?

Ditto. The main eating/shopping area is west on 187th Street, just a few blocks from the Zoo's Southern Boulevard pedestrian entrance, and offers plenty of options.

    2. If you can find it (and if it still exists) there is (or was) an Italian restaurant run by a family where you go there and they serve you what they have prepared that day. No menu, you just eat what they have. Alas I probably won't go there even if it is still around because I've become a vegetarian, but I'd love to know if it is still there, and I hope that it is. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and where it is?

You are probably talking about Dominicks on Arthur. No menus, and they guide you threw the courses.

      2. Patricia's on Mprris Park Ave is very good.

        1. I would suggest Zero Otto Nove, Arthur Ave. - just b/c I myself have been dying to check it out. They have traditonal pizzas, some new fangled types (butternut sqaush puree, smoked mozzarella, pancetta and basil -YUM) in addition to calzones, pasta, and meat dishes. They have been getting a lot of attention. I can't wait to go - maybe I'll go this weekend.
