Has anyone ordered a cake from sugar sweet sunshine ?

My friends birthday is this Friday and we are heading upstate to party with her. I am in charge of getting a cake. I was thinking about getting a Ruthy' a best chocolate cheesecake but I think that will be too heavy.

I love the pumpkin cupcakes from Sugar sweet sunshine and was thinking about ordering a red velvet cake from them with the cream cheese frosting that's usually on the pumkin cupcakes.

My first question. Are the full cakes as moist as the cupcakes are? And second, I have never tried their red velvet before. How does it compare and do they put decorations etc on the cake if needed? Thanks

  1. I have ordered a cake from them, although not the red velvet. (I got the black and white.) The cake was as good as their cupcakes, and they did a lovely job decorating it.

the pistachio one is my fave! their red velvet is OK, but probly not the best out there.

    2. I haven't had the red velvet from there, but red velvet should always have cream cheese frosting. Cakeman Raven in Fort Greene has probably the best red velvet in NYC. I also like to order cakes from Cupcake Cafe b/c the actual cake is out of this world and the decoration is spectacular. MasterBakers is also delicious but unfortunately specialize in erotic cakes. You should call them and see if they'd do a normal cake b/c also one of the best.

      1. The best red velvet cake is from Pinisi's in the East Village. I believe it's on 4th between 1st and 2nd ave. I had the red velvet cupcake and convinced my roommate to get the cake for her dad's birthday and the cake it just as amazing and moist!
