what's the situation with flor morena fine foods in silverlake?

this place has been closed down for a while - anyone know what is happening to the space? was it not a good location?

i don't know what's happening with it, but hopefully something akin to joan's on third will move in. what a dissappointment flor morena was... maybe they should just bring the auto bar back, which was previously in the space.

There should finally be some resolution soon. Can't have any more Autobar, as I believe any new tenants cannot sell alcohol or stay open past 9 or so. Those restrictions do limit the types of businesses, yet as Matt says, something like Joan's, Clementine's or M Cafe de Chaya would be ideal.

Why no alcohol? And I have heard some rumors also, you are right, resolution is just around the corner.

I heard when the flor morena people bought the place they retired the liquor license.

I think the ideal thing for the location would be a restaurant that specializes in grilled cheese sandwiches and also gives out free beer and pony rides.

You can always get the liquor license back, as long as the previous owners did not have to many problems with the people around there. Also, as long as not to many new licenses have been approved in the area.

I believe the orig license was revoked and the neighbors protested a new application. So no deal...

Seems like conditional use permits are getting stickier and sticker as neighborhoods gentrify. LA is def. not a pro business city.

Revoked is a different story, I believe.

That is so different from what I heard, go figure, I guess the Great Flor Morena Mystery lives on, until the grand opening.
