Nectar's is not just Gravy Fries anymore

We stopped at Nectar's last night to try their new venture into barbecue. The aroma of hickory smoke was the first sign that the food was going to be real good. And it was !

From pulled pork, ribs, chicken and various sides, all items tried were tasty and had a nice level of smoke. The ribs were a bit saucy for my taste but I'm sure they could be ordered dry with a side of sauce. The pecan pie was as good as I have tasted anywhere.

The interior has been revamped and has a much more open feel. If your downtown, you should give them a try. Afterall, is there anything better than barbecue (well maybe a really great pizza........)

I was there for the Bite Club also. The owner was incredibly generous. All the food was very good. Although I don't think they can beat Big Fatty's ribs. So much piggy goodness.

I've never actually been inside Nectar's but I always had this sense of it being a college-type hangout, what with the live music and all. This is sense accurate?

          Let me address your questions:

          1. I thought Nectar's cue was better based on the more prevailent smoke taste. However, I have no issues with Big Fatty's food.
          2. The setting at Nectar's has been revamped and is much improved from the old style. As far as being a "college hangout", I guess it depends on what time you go there. I personally have found it to be a mixed crowd. There seems to be more of a focus on the restaurant side of the business as of late. I doubt you will see anyone puking in the bathroom (at least before 11:00 p.m.).

Thanks for the report! I'd heard that they were doing BBQ there and wanted to check it out. Have you been to Big Fatty's in Burlington? How do they compare?
