Loteria Grill Kitchen Store

I happened to be driving down Pico today just west of Crenshaw [the 4200 West Pico block] and noticed a new store opening. The name on the store said "Loteria Grill Kitchen Store".

The sign had the very same logo as the Loteria Grill in the Farmer's Market as shown on their webpage:

I would have thought it was going to be another Loteria Grill except for the "Kitchen Store" part of it. Anyone know what's going on here?

  1. I see it all the time too...I am really curious, since it still doesnt look open...

    1. 4228 W. Pico is Jimmy's office and commissary where he pre-prepares the sauces and similar things that cannot be done at the Farmer's Market, due to lack of space.
It will be doing similar functions for the new 6627 Hollywood Blvd. location now under construction.
My guess is that since he has the food there, he might just as well try to generate some revenue to offset the rent.

I drove by yesterday and they have taken down the "Loteria!" sign. Windows still covered with paper.

Actually, they are on Twitter. I'll ask.

yes, it caught fire and they are relocating, probably downtown.
