Are ramps at the union square green market yet?

I know ramp season is pretty much over, but does anyone know of any place that still has them? I've been wanting to make this modified carbonara recipe w/ramps and sugar snaps, but now that the sugar snaps are at the market, no ramps to be found! I'm tempted to visit all the places mentioned in this post to check (WF, Fairway, Chelsea Market, Chinatown), but that seems a bit daunting! Thanks very much in advance.

Check the Union Square Market. There are at least 6 purveyors there that are selling ramps.

Thanks for the suggestion. I checked the Union Square market on Wednesday around 2 pm and no one had any, but perhaps they had all run out. I will try my luck again on Saturday but in the meantime I was just wondering if any other places might have some I could pick up at non-market hours.

Why don't you make a phone call to different WF or Fruit exchange at Chelsea Market before heading to the shop?

It was raining Wednesday, too, and not all the vendors showed up. In my experience, Saturday is the day with the most variety, followed closed by Friday, then Wednesday has a smaller market, and Monday has a MUCH smaller market. I'd definitely get there earlier (before 10am) than later.

Yeah I normally go before work but couldn't make it until later yesterday. Good to know that the ramps' absence was probably due to my lateness and there's hope of finding more after all. I will try giving WF/Chelsea Market a call and if not try again tomorrow or Saturday. Thanks for everyone's advice! (On the FreshDirect tip, thanks for the idea, but the fact that FD itself gives them 2 out of 5 freshness stars is not encouraging. At least they're honest!)

FreshDirect has them on their site. Not that I'm going to pay $8 a bunch without seeing how fresh they are first.

I saw ramps at 3 vendors this past Saturday. 2 vendors were charging $3 and they were in coolers in perfect shape. The last guy had raggy looking ones for $2.50 out of a van

all looking for ramps do check your ethnic grocery stores, esp. korean japanese and chinese. i was born in korea and we used get them all spring long and certainly not at 15/pound... also look into your local grow/forage group. it's coming- the season.

They sell them at Chelsea Market - just bought some this weekend. $15.99 a pound. Delicious.

Fairway (74th St.) actually had ramps this a.m. Next to the mushrooms. They were unmarked, though, so I don't know how much they were charging for them.

Lucy's Greenmarket Report (http://www.echonyc.com/~lwollin/green...) says that Mountain Sweet Berry farm will have them on Saturday coming.

Two vendors at Union Square had them this a.m. I got 6 bunches; can't wait to cook them up!

I certainly will, though I don't usually do anything fancy or complicated. One thing I am going to try is the recipe listed by monavano in this thread: http://www.chowhound.com/topics/509367 (you have to scroll down a little bit). I'll sub mushrooms for the chicken since we're veg; but otherwise the ramps crepes sound awesome. Hopefully, if I start a ramps thread over there others will contribute their ideas as well.
