Need help! Near Museums

Matt H Apr 15, 2008 08:54 AM

I am posting on my husbands account and he says this is his Go-To site for all the great places to eat he has been finding lately.

I am planning a recruiting event at work and need 3-5 great restaurant recommendations near the following Museums for dinner (5 separate events-MFA, Isabella Stewart, MIT Museum, ICA and FOGG) We will be entertaining Attorney's so the rec's would have to be at least some-what high end and budget really does not matter. Would like to show them a good time and make sure they experience some great food as well.

Thank you so much for your help!

Aprox 10-15 people. I guess it would have been helpful for me to mention that.

A few upscale recs, all easily large enough to accommodate 10 - 15:

        Gardner/MFA - Eastern Standard
        MIT Museum - Blue Room
ICA - Sel de la Terre
Fogg - Upstairs on the Square, Rialto, Henrietta's Table

MFA - I think the MFA restaurant does this kind of thing well if you want to combine it with a trip to the museum.

I am finding that the higher end options near the MFA and ISG are a bit limited, does anyone recommend me expanding my search to certain sections of Back Bay?

This is not my area of expertise, but it seems to me that many of the higher-end Back Bay restaurants, such as l'Espalier, are better suited to smaller groups, and not a recruiting dinner.

Maybe the Oak Room in Copley Place? Or Clio?

That is what I was also thinking. L'Espalier I dont think would be suited for this event.

I was thinking of a few places though....

Brasserie Jo, Croma, Excelsior, Sasso and Kasmir. Any opinions?

                    Croma - NO!
                    Excelsior - YES!
                    Sasso - Yes!
                    Kashmire - NO!

If you're heading out of the Fenway, I'd put the South End on the table as well. Lots of very good upscale restaurants for a group. But I still think Eastern Standard could work nicely.

MFA - Go back into the city to Sasso or Sorellina
Isabella Stewart - same as MFA
                  MIT Museum - Blue Room
                  ICA - Radius
FOGG - Harvest or Craigie St Bristrot
