What are fireslate counters?

Fireslate was mentioned in an article in the New York Times last week. Does anyone have these counters or know where I can find more information?

    You don't want them. One VERY unhappy customer has a website with photos of the horrible stains and other damage to their counters after a short time. The company wouldn't stand behind them. Do a search and you should find it.

      Tried Ask Metafilter, they sound pretty good except you have to oil them a few times a year - no big deal:
