Welcome to NYC

We're coming into town a day or so early for my husband's meeting. We get into LGA at around 4. We have a car picking us up and we're staying at Le Parker Meridien. This is my first trip to NYC (it doesn't show does it?), so where would you send me and my husband to eat for dinner that night? We're almost 30 and 36, husband is a lawyer and I'm a retired cook turned stay at home mother. We've eaten in some of the best restaurants around the country and travel a good bit. We love to eat out and consider it one of our hobbies (I need to consider dieting as a hobby up until my trip). I'd like it to be a place that I can make a reservation, just so we don't have to wait too long for a table. I don't want it to be super fancy, as we're doing Per Se and others later in the week. Budget isn't really an issue, but if we don't have to spend a ton, why do it? KWIM?

Thanks!

In one of your other posts, you mentioned that you like Italian. So, I would recommend L'Impero, on Tudor City Pl., b/t 42nd & 43rd Sts. The contemporary Italian cuisine is superb. In addition to the a la carte menu, they offer a 4-course prix-fixe for about $65, a terrific value for food of this quality. There is also tasting dinner, but I don't remember the cost. The wine list is excellent. Service is friendly and capable. The interior has understated elegance. Since you will be here in August, there is dining on a small, romantic patio that overlooks a park across the street. They take reservations for the dining room, but I'm not sure about the patio.
