Chilean or Argentinian Bakeries?

As a recent transplant to upstate NY from Chicago, my fiancee and I are planning our August wedding in Chicago via the web. But when it comes to looking for a bakery to prepare our wedding cake, we've hit a dead end. My fiancee is Chilean and we are both certain we want a very particular cake which goes by many names: Pastel de Lucuma, Lucuma Merengado (Meringue), or just good ole Lucuma Cake.

If anyone knows of a bakery or restaurant that makes this cake (or would be willing), we will be indebted and save a slice for you at the reception!

  1. NuthinFluxin,

You may want to check out http://www.globalfusion.us/Lucuma-Pow.... They carry 100% natural lucuma powder from Peru. If you need a big order for your wedding cake I suggest you contact Augusto Ellacuriaga, the owner. I am sure he'll know someone who can do that for you.

    Congrats!

    1. I don't know of any bakeries that are Chilean or Argentine, but perhaps you could call Latin Sandwich Cafe (Chilean owned) or El Mercado Meat Market (Argentine owned) and see if they have any suggestions.

The Bombon bakery is Mexican, but perhaps could work to your specifications to prepare the right sort of cake. They do beautiful and delicious cakes.

      Good luck!
