Indian around Sunset Park?

  • 2

I am wondering if anyone knows of any Indian or Pakistani places around Sunset Park. Thanks!

  1. An extensive Bengali (Bangladeshi, but primarily from Sylhet) community exists along Church Avenue right next to Sunset. A Pakistani community is along lower CIA, not exactly alongside Sunset. Jinuk (Shell in Bangla) is the only stand out Bengali restaurant in the community. It's decently good, but I prefer my haunting grounds in Queens. Church Avenue is a bit "gram" for me.

    1. I live on 56th between 4th and 5th. I don't know of any Indian restaurants nearby, but Patel Grocery on 4th Ave. at 53rd (east side of street) is a great place to buy spices (just about any kind you need, fresh and cheap), dals, rices, a limited array of fresh produce (eggplant, okra, onions, ginger, asian chiles, some other things, and usually better quality than most other produce in the neighborhood), snack foods and instant meals, and my personal addiction, Desi Natural Dahi brand yogurt -- thick, creamy, delicious and only $2.50 per quart.
