Go to Wright's Cafeteria for a taste of real southern cooking. Take I640 to the Western Ave. Exit. Turn at the CVS and go over to Middlebrook and go W on Middlebrook for about 2 miles and Wrights is a small place on the corner. Homemade chocolate cream pie, yeast rolls that float on the plate, real sweet tea, fried chicken, deviled eggs, fried okra. I'm not crazy about most of their meat, but who needs meat. Just get a lots of veggies and dessert.

Hardy appetites:
Buddy's BBQ, buy your chopped BBQ by the pound and a suitable number of buns, and eat in. No fried sides, but you won't miss them.
Puleo's for lunch. There're several in town, one on I-75 southbound, at Merchants Drive (it's on the east side of the road within a quarter mile of the intersection.)
Do know that on May 1, part of I-40 just east of downtown closes for eighteen months so taking I-640 is your best alternative. Sorry about the closure, but we aren't happy about it either.
