Lunch in Knoxville-Help

We are driving through Knoxille and need some lunch recommendations. Anything from sandwiches to BBQ. We are from Chicago so we have hardy appetites and tastbuds.

For something a little lighter (not to mention fresher) I would recommend The Tomato Head on Market Square. (They also have a patio if the weather is nice.)

They have a website if you want to Google it to see the menu.

Go to Wright's Cafeteria for a taste of real southern cooking. Take I640 to the Western Ave. Exit. Turn at the CVS and go over to Middlebrook and go W on Middlebrook for about 2 miles and Wrights is a small place on the corner. Homemade chocolate cream pie, yeast rolls that float on the plate, real sweet tea, fried chicken, deviled eggs, fried okra. I'm not crazy about most of their meat, but who needs meat. Just get a lots of veggies and dessert.

Litton's would be my recommendation. Great burgers!

          Hardy appetites:
Buddy's BBQ, buy your chopped BBQ by the pound and a suitable number of buns, and eat in. No fried sides, but you won't miss them.
Puleo's for lunch. There're several in town, one on I-75 southbound, at Merchants Drive (it's on the east side of the road within a quarter mile of the intersection.)
Do know that on May 1, part of I-40 just east of downtown closes for eighteen months so taking I-640 is your best alternative. Sorry about the closure, but we aren't happy about it either.
