Red Velvet Cake in W. L.A. ?

I've searched the site and found many posts, but cannot find the few places in W. L.A. or Brentwood that have the most perfect red velvet cake. Your recs are greatly appreciated...

For Red Velvet cake, I can highly recommend Bluebird, like many of the previous posts. BUT I would also recommend taking a gander at the cake at Al Gelato on Robertson in Beverly Hills. The BIG bonus is that you can get it A LA MODE with some rocking gelato to boot. Get thee there ASAP!

There is no other substitute other than Buttercake Bakery on Pico near the Westside Pavilion. Order one the evening prior to pick up and request that they make one the following morning. I vouch for this place.

The Red Velvet cake at Doughboys is the best Red Velvet cake I have ever had. My friends agree. http://www.doughboys.net/

Of course, if you want a cupcake rather than a cake cake, there are the previously mentioned options such as Bluebird Cafe (which I am also eager to try). But, I would definitely recommend Doughboys over Sprinkles any day.

Doughboys is SO hit and miss now with their baked goods.

There's something to be said for consistency, and it seems like ever since they got their "Oprah rave" it's been more off days than on...

Jamaica's Cakes on Pico in W.L.A. makes very good red velvet cupcakes. They do wedding cakes, so may be able to make you a sheet cake if that's what you are looking for.

If you like Devil's Food, try Sprinkles, but if you want Red Velvet, go somewhere else. Far too strong a chocolate taste and lacking strength of the buttermilk and vinegar components.

Sprinkles Cupcakes in Beverly Hills has folks lined up around the block to buy their red velvet cupcakes. Not bad at all.

My office received some red velvet cupcakes from Suziecakes in Brentwood and they were incredible. I believe they do sheet cakes as well.

Third Susiecakes. Their red velvet cupcakes are my absolute favorite, and you can get larger cakes in various sizes.

My S.O. got me red velvet cake for last year's birthday from Bluebird Cafe. It was so tender and the cream cheese icing was just so right! I recommend it VERY highly. Actually, my birthday is coming up again soon...mmmmm!

I forgot about Bluebird! I love their cupcakes, much more than Sprinkles.

I went to Louise's on Pico/Overland last night and noticed red velvet cake on the dessert tray -- looked pretty good but I didn't have a slice.
