Appetizer Question

So I am cooking dinner for my girlfriend, the entree is mahi mahi with a pineapple avocado salsa with green rice. We are having a light dessert, and I was sort of hoping to have an equally light appetizer.

I was looking to see if anyone had any good suggestions for a nice appetizer to compliment my entree.

    thanks for all the suggestions everyone. i really appreciate the help. i have been thinking about this since i posted this morning and i think i would like to make a salad, or some kind of vegetable mix for the appetizer.

    could i have some suggestions following my new though line?

      since your doing fish for the main I would go with a non fish appetizer. Sticking to your sort of tropical theme what about fresh mango k-bobs with a honey lime yogurt dipping sauce.

        Ceviche! Peruvian style, of course.

          Chicken satay with peanut dipping sauce
          Fresh spring rolls with jicama, enoki, cilantro and bell peppers with a sweet chili sauce
          Lettuce cups with shredded chicken
          Endive with blue cheese and walnuts

            I would suggest a seafood sausage made with scallops and shrimp with a tomato, wine cream sauce or a quenelles made from sole, shrimp and/or scallops with a white beurre blanc.

              that sounds like a great dinner. How about some shrimp cocktail?

                I was thinking shrimp too, either ceviche or a light coconut shrimp.

                How about a chilled gazpacho sort of thing, maybe with strawberries and red pepper instead of tomato?

                how about a salad made with sliced mango, jicama, maybe cuke with a lime dressing? maybe with some chili powder, too. light, and I think it would go well beforethe pineapple avocado salsa.
