I hear everything about Philly....anybody have any Allentown favorites?? There is a place called Chess n Checkers that ABSOLUTELY love. Quick service, awesome crab cakes. To boot, there is never a long wait, even on Saturday nights. Let me know what anyone else like in Allentown

The Liberty Street is still there? It used to be a favorite haunt of mine in the 60's when I was at Muhlenberg. The pizza and burgers were great and they had a Wed. night clambake. And to Yacco's for doggie dessert. My 92 year old mother loves Yacco's, makes me stop at the Liberty one and has been eating them since the 30's while her brothers were at 'berg.

I second the Wert's Cafe recommendation. Club sandwiches w/ hard boiled eggs, delicious homemade soups.

Brass Rail - Lehigh Street - Not as good as it used to be, but still good - def worth a try.
Cheesesteak or a sausage sandwich w/ peppers.... hot dog w/ chili sauce... all on the local Malone's Rolls.

Zandy's - Quick cheesesteaks, salty relative to the Brass Rail, but good.

East end of Allentown - Stahley's Cellarette- great sandwiches and steamed clams

Jack Creek Steakhouse is OK (Catasauqua Rd by Airport) - Steaks and Tex-Mex w/ homemade tortilla's ) Automated machine - watch through window)

Where is Chess and Checkers?
