Best Dark/Belgian Chocolate Ice Cream

ThorNYC Apr 10, 2008 11:12 AM

Now that Godiva ice cream is more, I'm still trying to find a suitable replacement for their Belgian dark chocolate ice cream. Somebody recommended Cones on Bleecker St which I visited again last night, and while their tropical flavors are quite good, their dark chocolate isn't all that. I'm looking for something intensely chocolate and creamy. Any exceptional examples out there?

Have you tried the chocolate gelato at Il Laboratorio? Wonderful.

Try the ice cream at Maison du Chocolate, Madison and 78th.

Ditto - and there's one in Rockefeller Center, too. However, I believe they only make their super-chocolately ice cream in the summer. It's the only thing they make on site, the rest of the items get shipped in from France.

I haven't tried tried La Maison, but I've found the most dark chocolatey one to be L'Arte Del Gelato. And even though I like Il Lab, L'Arte has a lot more intense dark chocolate flavor.
