Looking for a fine dining destination restaurant midtown or preferably downtown that will seat us around 11PM on a Saturday. Help me out Hounds. Mrs. GG prefers French or Italian.

  1. I haven't been, but Mas (farmhouse) sounds like it might fit the bill.

It does but I've been and looking for something new. How late does Degustation seat?

    2. How about Piano Due - 151 w51st Street. Fine dining Italian and they will seat you at 11.

        1. Acc. to MenuPages, dbBistro Moderne serves until 11:30 p.m. on Saturdays.

Osteria Gelsi, on the corner of 9th Av. & 38th St., is a lovely Italian restaurant specializing in Pugliese cuisine. If you go, the timpano is not to be missed! Acc. to MenuPages, on Saturdays, they serve until midnight.

Note: Unfortunately, MenuPages info is not always accurate, so you should, of course, check with the restaurants directly.

I second db Bistro. What you could do for that is go on Open Table and put in 11 pm, and see if it comes up as an available reservation.

Thanks all. Also been to db B. Was underwhelmed by the foie gras burger.

          2. Wound up at Degustation. Had to wait 10 minutes even with an 11PM reservation. Mrs. GG preferred a more private setting but was eventually won over by the croquetas (bacon, goat cheese and apple) which she ordered twice for herself, the rabbit and the quail. I traded the quail for the foie gras and cherry. Mrs. GG said the jamon, egg, smoked cheese foam and rice cracker asparagus dish was a bit salty. Having had that before I went with the lamb loin which was great. The hamachi crudo was good but nothing special. I really missed the various shrimp a la plancha. When did they stop doing those? All in all still a great dining destination.
