Lunch near Houmas House

Will be visiting this plantation on a Saturday before heading to the airport for a early evening flight. Need a lunch recommendation. Any ideas?

Hymel's Seafood Restaurant is a local institution on LA44 just a few miles from Houmas House. Very casual, butcher paper-on-formica-table type place, but some of the best fried seafood you've ever tasted.

The Cabin gets another nod. My husband and I had lunch there after touring Houmas House. It's been quite a few years ago, but I still remember it as being wonderful. I would classify it as a combination of Southern Home Cooking and Cajun.

THe Cabin Special is the best thing on the menu (sub red beans for black eye peas if you wish)...Buttermilk Pie for dessert.
Only a mile away from Houmas House...if you have time you should stop at the Cajun Village on the way back to the interstate on LA 22 I think. http://www.thecajunvillage.com/

I have heard good things about the Cabin Restaurant. We plan on going soon.We recently went to the Cajun Village. It's a nice place to spend the day. There's a student section in the ceramic shop where everything is discounted. I bought a ceramic mini king cake. It's so cute. Oh and don't eat at the restaurant in the Cajun Village. It's not good.
