Coffee from Oaxaca,Mexico [Moved from Midwest Board]

what do you friends think about the coffee from Oaxaca, Mexico??

I'm from Oaxaca but I live in Minnesota now and I'd like to know what do you amigos think about our coffee.

  1. I work a bit with coffee producers in Vera Cruz, Chiapas, Guatemala, Nicaragua--and live in Colombia. I've worked a bit on coffee in Asia. Oaxaca coffees are likely to be similar to those of Chiapas--varied depending on altitude, location, climate, soils, shade, drought, management, careful staged harvesting, proper processing (fermenting husks, drying, grading, roasting, handling...), and the like.

    1. Oaxacan coffee can be excellent. There are some cheaper, canned, ground products which are blah.... but buying the beans from the a reputable source... results in some amazing cups of coffee. Its very competitive against the best from Veracruz, Chiapas and anywhere else.

      1. Oaxacan coffee is one of my staples. I love its smooth but intense flavor.
        Actually last month I went to Oaxaca city and could buy some great coffee.
        Oh... I loooove it.
