Good food near SeaWorld?

Help! Hubby and I are on a road trip to San Antonio for a visit to Sea World. We live in Dallas, so our I-35 pilgrimage will include a must-do stop in Taylor for Muellers BBQ on the way down. We may do 281 on the return, so any advise for that route would be greatly appreciated, too. We are staying at a Comfort Suites on 410 five miles from Sea World, probably won't even go into the city as we've done that many times. Any advise on food near Sea World. I have a friend that raves about Alamo Cafe, but I've heard it's not all that. We once at in Helotes at the El Chapparal (I think) was good from what I remember.

  1. Yeah,Alamo Cafe is just generic tex mex.I have heard of El Chapparal, and some good things about it. Not sure really what is out by SeaWorld.I haven't been out that way in years, probably lots of chains, but as far as local places, not sure.On 281 in Blanco is the Blanco Cafe .If you go to road food's website, click on restaurants and Texas, they will have a review and photos of the place. All we ever ate at was apicnic lunch in the Blanco State Park, or the Dairy Queen. There is also as you go up 281, a place called Texas 46.
You make a right hand turn onto Texas Hwy 46, and it will be on your left hand side.
I had a pretty good hamburger there one day with a friend. It's located not too far from where the intersection for the two roads are.

    1. The Koffee Kup in Hico has pretty good burgers and such and really good pie.

      1. When you are coming back from your trip-try "The Grist Mill" in New Braunfels (Gruene, TX )-great dining on the Guadalupe River-right off I-35. Great for lunch or dinner-we are also from Dallas and take yearly road trips down to the Hill Country-we even were married in Wimberley last year and had our rehearsal dinner at "The Grist Mil"-very good food and atmosphere-causal, fun dining.
Hope you enjoy your trip :)
