cheap eats near: AMC River East 322 E. Illinois

I'm going to a screening tomorrow night, and am looking to have an early dinner nearby. It would be nice if it was cheap, or inexpensive given the area. Also, if anyone knows of any happy hour/bar menu or something similar, that would be great. I think Chicago Magazine/The Reader/Timeout or someone published something on the topic, but I can't remember.

Too late now but next time try Lizzie McNeil's on the river. They have a very creditable Guinness Irish Stew and free popcorn - load up with a ziplock and sneak it in to your sneak preview!

Boston Blackie's is a good choice. Another possibility (and even closer) is Fox and Obel, kitty corner from the theater. Fox and Obel is a gourmet food store. In the rear is a cafe where they cook items to order. The atmosphere is basic coffeehouse, but the food is excellent, and reasonably priced. For a bar, I really like Timothy O'Toole's. I'm know they serve food, but I don't know how good it is.

You won't be too far from Boston Blackie's, one of my go to places for hamburgers (cheap and otherwise) and other bar food in Streeterville:

It's not that cheap, but Lucky Strike (in the same lobby as AMC) is pretty good and VERY convenient. Sandwiches, burgers, salads, chicken nugs, other bar munchies.
