Lunch near Berri?

gremlin2 Apr 8, 2008 05:49 PM

Hi fellow hounders. I was wondering if you know any good and relatively cheap lunch spots near the Berri metro (5-10 minute walk, preferably). I already know about La Paryse (a classic), but I feel like trying something new tomorrow.

    You could try Sur Bleury

Depends what you mean by cheap. There's always Juliette et Chocolat on St. Denis.

There's an awesome lamburger at Lamère a Boire (2049 Rue St Denis).

Ooh. Payback's a bitch. Now *I'm* craving this like mad. And there's no way I'm going to make it over there today... www.chowhound.com/topics/433917#2870642

The forecast maximum is 16ºC. Bet their cozy terrasse will be open for business.

The vegetarian Taiwanese resto Yuan on the southeast corner of Sherbrooke and St-Denis gets mixed reviews. I always mean to drop by when in the area and hungry but seem unable to resist the allure of L'Amère à boire's little lambkin.

I've tried Yuan a few times because my office is nearby and I think it is just terrible! Everything tastes the same, with bland, yet gross flavor. The owners are nice so I suppose that might be a reason to support them.

There's a sushi place midway between sherbrooke and ontario in a basement on the eastern side of the street that isn't bad. The name escapes me but I will check the next time I am in my office across the street.

Pizzeria Dei Compari, 1668 St Denis is quite good, their brick oven makes the place feel cosy, and the service is generally quite quick, although not too friendly.

I can't wait to try the food at Lamere a boire...it is so close to where I work but I never stopped in for food, since it seems more like a bar from the outside.
