Dinner on Sat night in Balt - casual elegance

f

My husband and I in our mid 40s and will be in Baltimore on Saturday night. We never have time away from the kids and are looking for a casual (a step up from jeans) yet elegant place for dinner. Steaks, chicken, seafood, mexican. We were thinking of walking through Fells Point or the Canton area. We do enjoy wine. I've seen Junior's mentioned here but I wanted a menu without pizza! Thanks.....

Pierpoint's on Aliceanna Street in Fells Point

I'm a big fan of Bicycle in Federal Hill. Cool atmosphere, nice wine list and most importantly, great food. The tuna tartare is not to be missed! Save room for their coffee creme brulee and a pot of the press coffee.
As far as dress code goes, I've been in jeans and a fancy top and also in a dress. Anything along those lines would be fine.

If you do end up at Juniors, the fried olives are a must and they also have a fine creme brulee.

Peter's Inn in Fells Point...or maybe Salt Tavern in Butcher's Hill. You could wear jeans to either, but atmosphere and food are wonderful! You could head over to Meli (new restaurant opened by Kali's Restaurant Group) for a nightcap! Jack's Bistro in Canton is also delicious if you were heading to that neck of the woods. Enjoy your date night!

In Fells Point, I'd say Timothy Dean's. Great food; lots of energy. If you want to go further than that, perhaps Jack's Bistro in Canton?

I think Henningers in Fells Point would be perfect!

I would vote Timothy Dean's and Salt. Both memorable dining experiences with solid wine lists.

Fell's Point - Peter's Inn, Heninger's, Mezze or the new Meli and Salt (although it's more Butcher's Hill than Fell's Point but extremely close and I believe they are now taking reservations)

Canton - Jack's Bistro, Birches, Helen's Garden (not my fave but seems like it may suit your needs)

I like Mezze because it still has an upscale feel to it, the food is very good (two people will usually eat 5 tapas dishes?) it is casual and moderately priced for what you're getting. We've been there twice and really enjoyed it.

How was the service at Mezze? The last two or three times we went, there were mild to serious host/waitstaff issues, so we've given up. But I'd give it another shot if someone gives me a favorable report....

                      venera,
Seems I remember the service being ok - not the greatest but not bad either. .

Sorry, my above post about the service refers to Mezze.
