Hello, Chowsers.

I am looking to find a good indian restaurant that is BYOB. I have been to Panna II and Chennai and Tiffin (not sure if all are still BYOB) and am considering Panna but it is SO tiny and we are looking for a place where the four of us can relax and enjoy our booze and our food for a while. Can be anywhere in Manhattan. I wish Vatan was BYOB--the atm is good there (we can sit comfortably for awhile).

We are also trying to find a nice sake bar to go to afterwards (strange pairing for the evening, I realize--but a friend is in town from WA and Indian and Sake bar is what she wants). I have been to Kyotofu and liked the sake a lot there. But again-it's so small and crowded. We'd like a place where we can sit and relax and drink for awhile.

Thanks for any suggestions.

  1. Have you been to the sake bar on 43rd Street - across from Yasuda - in the basement? I can never remember the name - but they have a huge selection and I finally tried a sake that I liked, thanks to the guidance of the bar tender. I'm sure someone else will come up with the name.

    2. I second Sakagura for sake, and will add Sake Hagi as another option. Both places are bustling and noisy after dinner time though. if you want a quieter and spacious place for sake (not for the food), EN brasserie also has a large nice selection.
