guanajuato fish/ seafood recs

Going to Guanajuato for 5 days and wanted to get some recommendations about places with good seafood and/or fish?? (I know it's not near a major body of water.) My husband and I are both pescatarians, so any information would be helpful! (I lived there 10 years ago for a while, but ate meat at the time!)

  1. HI

I am not sure about Guanajuato seafood places but if you have a chance to visit San Miguel De Allende during your stay don't miss Restaurante De Andrea at the Hacienda Landeta. It is located outside the city of SMA and is about a 20 minute taxi ride from Centro. This is an exquisite Italian restaurant that serves excellent seafood along with many other wonderful dishes. Whatever you order don't miss one of their seafood salads (calamari, octopus, etc) as a started and definitely order a plate of their cheese ravioli to share too. My wife is a "pescatarian"too and has never been disappointed with any of the fish dishes she hast tried there. This place does not advertise in any of the local guide books and the telephone number is difficult to get but you will need a reservation. Ask for a table on the patio which is a beautiful spot to dine. The address is Salida Queretaro to Dr. Mora, km. 2.5. Take a taxi on your first visit, and the staff will gladly call one for your return to San Miguel de Allende.

The local phone number is (415) 120-3481.

    1. Does paella count? I love sitting outside at Tasca de la Paz and having paella and sangria. Haven't been in a few years but it was one of my Guanajuato faves. Oh, I just read that you don't eat meat so that might not work.
