Keeping everyone happy - Indpls

Ok, so hubby's sister and her family are coming to visit at the end of June. We are really looking forward to it, except that it is a challenging family to feed. Brother-in-law is vegan, but not very wide-ranging in his tastes (eats beans, rice, pasta, bread, pizza without cheese). Nephew #1 (age 12) eats typical teen food - steak, pizza, burgers. Nephew #2 (age 8) eats chicken nuggets, french fries, and waffles. That's about it.

We are at a loss at where to go to eat out. We have never dealt with this quandry before, since we have tried to develop an adventurous palate in our daughter (also 8), and she eats just about anything, so all of our favorite ethnic places are out.

Anyone have ideas? We imagine we will have to cook a lot, but want to go out a few times....

If you'd like to take one meal at a nice place, to expose them to upscale cuisine that's creative yet fun, with good vegan options as well, I recommend going to Oakley's Bistro ( www.oakleysbistro.com ). I ate there last year and it was the best meal I've eaten in the state of Indiana, as I reported in the topic at www.chowhound.com/topics/348586 Some of the items, like the shrimp corn dogs and the lobster waffle, have a playful attitude that will appeal to the kids. I'm sure the BIL will find something that he enjoys; I am not a vegetarian but when I ate there I had a vegetable lasagna that was spectacular. www.oakleysbistro.com

I know that Mama Carrollas has some vegan options on their menu (but you'll have to ask to make sure). They will make their pasta primavera with olive oil instead of butter and it comes packed with veggies

Cancun mexican restaurant also has some vegan options, and I believe they also have a childrens menu

You may also give Puccini's a try. I worked there for 3 years and if you order their pizza with the spagetti sauce instead of the pizza sauce, it will be vegan. Then you will at least have satisfied your brother in law's diet, as well as nephew #1. Not sure about nephew #2.
If I can think of something else, I'll be sure and come back here to post about it.
