Lemon Cake

Hi all,

I am looking for a lemon cake for my wife's upcoming birthday...does anyone know of a bakery that has one? Best location would be Cambridge or Sommerville but Allston/Brighton would also work.

Thanks!

Rosie's bakery has a wonderful lemon cake. They have locations in Inman Square, and I think one closer to Porter Sq on Mass ave too. Their Lemon cake is fantastic.

Hi Rise makes a wonderful mini lemon pound cake, they might also make a full sized cake.

Lakota Bakery, Mass Ave, Arlington Heights makes a lovely, luscious lemon cake. I've also seen, though not tasted, one at Russo's in Watertown.

The Icing on the Cake offers a Lemon Velvet cake that I've only had a taste of, quite a long time ago, but I still remember how good it was so that's saying something! It's described on their site as "Light lemony cake layered with lemon buttercream and raspberry jam "

I've never had this particular cake, but I'm a big fan of Icing on the Cake. It replaced Party Favors several years ago as my go-to place for birthday cakes.

Whole Foods has an awesome lemon cake with raspberry filling - they might be able to make one with a different filling if she doesn't like raspberry.

I have had an awesome lemon cake from Aidens bakery in Brookline. It was a special order for a celebration.

What bakery is this? The name doesn't ring a bell and I found nothing via Google, but I'm always interested in a bakery with a good lemon cake.

I think ginnyhw might mean Athans in Brookline

I thought of them, but they don't have anything I'd think of as a "lemon cake" - the closest are a lemon loaf cake or a lemon curd tart.

Yes, I meant Athans Bakery. It was a special order. It was a lemon layer cake. I asked for a cake that wasn't chocolate, had no nuts and no berries and the couple that own it suggested their lemon cake. It was wonderful.

i don't know if cheesecake is what you'd consider, but my favorite cheesecake at the cheesecake factory is the lemon raspberry. I's mainly lemon with a very small amount of raspberry on it.
