Ceviche/Bella Brava

Has anyone eaten at Ceviche or Bella Brava in downtown St. Petersburg. I'm looking for comments.

  1. I haven't tried Bella Brava yet, but I've eaten at Ceviche several times and always really enjoy it. It gets really crowded, especially on weekends. Ceviche has a little sister restaurant now called Pincho y Pincho (right next door). They serve a more limited selection of the same tapas in a more casual enviornment there, and are open for lunch.

    1. Ceviche is better now. There is a new chef and menu at BB and things are not (yet) as good as they once were.

        We've not ventured to often into downtown St. Petes. We usually stay at the beach. We've never tried Ceviche, but we did go to BB a few years ago. It was horrible. We walked out. I keep getting e-mails from BB and they "look good," but you know how that goes. Then I heard they closed at the end of '07 for some reason and now have reopened. Heck I didn't even know Dan Marino's wasn't in Bay Walk anymore.

        I've eaten at Bella Brava only a few times. I would describe these experiences as being characterized by completely adequate food accompanied by completely apathetic service and prices that were completely out of line for the quality of food and service. I understand that it’s under new ownership (or management) now, and it’s been about a year since I was there, but a co-worker, whose standards are similar to mine, tells me that there is no substantive improvement since the change. But it’s a lovely place to see and be seen.

        1. Haven't tried Bella Brava. I just don't get to that side of the Bay. I've eaten at Ceviche's on Howard a few times. Everything is generally very good, but do not order the duck breast. They attempted a sweet wine chocolate sauce that tasted like Hershey's cocoa powder and sugar. It was unforgivable. Sad, the duck was cooked perfectly.
