Jake's - Hot Dogs in SGV

Finally, a liitle hot dog love for us in the other valley. Jake's is now open on Azusa Ave., just north of the 210 freeway on the corner of 3rd Street..

Basically, there's six dogs on the menu. The standard hot dog, apple-chicken sausage, Louisana hot links, corn dog, Polish dog, and - my favorite - the bacon-wrapped quarter pounder dog.

The regular hot dog is nice and savory but without the natural casing that many dog lovers crave. It's good, but is missing the snap.

The bacon-wrapped dog is very thick and filling. The large sausage - again, skinless - is wrapped with thick-cut bacon and is just as tasty as you'd imagine. According to the owner, this forbidden dog is by far the best seller. Available toppings include a mix of grilled onions and bell peppers, kraut, chili, and cheese. Outside, the condiment bar includes jalapenos, mustard, mayo, ketchup, chopped onions, and relish.

An order of the fries will easily feed 2 people.

Prices go from $2.00 for a basic hot dog to $3.50 for the bacanator and the hot link.

They also serve breakfast burritos with eggs, hash browns and your choice of any of the meats listed above from 8 to 11 in the morning.

Yumo! Yep they are good. I work up the street, today I "officially" tried the bacon wrapped and fries. I liked it and I normally don't like hot dogs. The owners are really nice, been very supportive in the community. Try 'em out.
