  1. Are you serious? I was there a few weeks ago and it was amazing.

    1. I tried to make a reservation a couple of weeks ago. No one answered the phones or returned the message I left

It's been dark inside for at least a week. I heard they closed up suddenly. It's kind of shocking, considering how popular they are. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about it.

We had dinner there a few weeks ago and the bartender told us that the owner has been looking to sell the restaurant for quite some time. A loss for the 'hood -- love the octopus appetizer.

I don't see why a new owner couldn't keep a good thing going.

      2. i certainly hope it hasn't closed. it's one of my favorite restaurants in my neighborhood and i had purchased a gift certificate for my sister and husband last christmas to dine there and they still haven't used it!!

Dang! Loved that place. Quiet, intimate, BYOB 2 days a week.... what happened????

        2. Are we talking about AOC at the corner of Bleecker and Grove? With the nice garden in back? If so, theyre still there and things are hopping as usual. Big changes though. they took the AOC picture off the window.

No, AOC Bedoford at 14 Bedford Street.
I've been to AOC a few times and thought food was just OK and service very unattentive.

i agree when i went there i liked the place itself, but was disappointed in the food given the reviews...it wasnt bad per se, but it was not great by any stretch. The waiter hyped up the suckling pig (a dish i love) and i found it to be pretty dry (esp for suckling pig) and didn't have the great flavor that good suckling pig has.

I was talking about AOC on Bleecker. I've never been to AOC Bedford.

          2. I was JUST as STUNNED last night as I strolled past it and saw the empty windows covered in brown kraft paper. Had to keep staring at them to make sure I was at the right place... I am SO SO SO sad that they are closed! A bread seller next door said they've been closed for 6 months or so! OMG! Absolutely and most definitely one of my top favorite restaurants in the city... My favorite duck! I can cry!
