Flying Pig BBQ - Natomas

Today was my second visit to the Flying Pig BBQ in Natomas, and one word accurately describes this place - wood. The restaurant is part of the Northern California Armadillo Willy's chain, but is one of the best BBQ places I have been to in a while. It is located in the new "open mall" shopping center south of Target.

Nearly everything was very good, including the three sauces covering basic, jalapeno, and a Carolina mustard sauce. All meats are smoked over oak and served dry. The chicken was tender and flavorful, literally melting in my mouth. The ribs were well cooked and had a true wood smoke flavor. The sausage was plentiful and very tasty; full of spice, but not hot. The meal came with double-cooked french fries and GARLIC bread - lots of garlic on the bread which is always welcome.

My first meal was the lunch shredded brisket sandwich which was excellent. The smoke plus tender meat and sauces made a very tasty lunch. This place adds another good option in the busy Natomas part of Sacramento.

I like the pulled pork and hamburgers. Great Carolina mustard sauce, although they do not bottle it yet. I found the garlic bread overpowering, but overall...a nice place for take-out.
