Les Ombres or Chez L'ami Jean

first night? love the idea of the location for Les Ombres..I see Chez L'ami jean was just written up this month in Bon Appetite.. No doubt it will be packed even more! I was trying to fit it on ,my list.. but it may have to be an either/ or... which would you pick??

Depends what you want, both are so different. Chez l'Ami Jean is crowded, slightly chaotic with good food. They turn tables approx three times a night so it isn't relaxed. I love it for all those features. I have yet to go to Les Ombres, but it looks cool, sophisticated and stylish, with innovative food. An ideal place for a special occaision.

In my book Chez l'Ami Jean is a Friday night, after work, relaxing restaurant, but Les Ombres is a Saturday night dressing up place.

Jean is a little more pleasant at lunch. At night its too loud and cramped. Probably easier to get in at lunch too.
